In 1998 I went to Queensland on a working holiday. During the month of August I became very ill with flu like symptoms and spent two weeks lying down. The doctor's thought it was glandular fever, but the test was negative and they assumed it was some other virus.
I recovered enough to get back to my office job but I always felt there was something not quite right. Energy levels weren't what they had been previously. By 2003, my health was so bad that I could hardly walk or lift up my arm to dry my hair and forget about standing in the shower! Food allergies had developed, constant sore throats, dizziness and severe fatigue forced me to leave my job.
A specialist finally diagnosed my with rickettsial spotted fever (QLD tick typhus), rickettsia honei, rickettsia scrub typhus and rickettsia australis. But I never went bush! I had been living on the Gold Coast. In 2004 we planned the funeral until a friend told us of the marshall protocol treatment. I had been treated with loads of antibiotics but my health continued to decline and I was
completey bedridden. Against the doctor we proceeded and fortunately it saved my life. In 2010 a blood sample was sent to the USA and they confirmed Lyme disease as well.
